marcaram a estreia nos discos em 2003, com o EP “a holliday at the sea”, e editaram este mês o álbum de estreia, “floating the world”; foi este o disco que me chegou há dias, e que recebeu já, no “lado B”, a devida referência.
os Anathallo são sete elementos reunidos em Mt. Pleasant (curioso o nome), estado de Michigan (E.U.A.), e recebem promissoras críticas nos (ainda poucos) meios de comunicação da especialidade.
música composta com base em complexos arranjos harmónicos das sete vozes, revestidos por trombones, xilofones, piano, guitarras e percussão, entre outros objectos menos convencionais. tudo é som arrumado em melodia.
para além música, este é um álbum que realça o meu gosto pelo formato CD, ou, por outras palavras, reduz a pouco o fenómeno de difusão legal em mp3: é um disco embrulhado numa embalagem de luxo, uma das mais bonitas e bem trabalhadas que já vi. um ponto a mais a reforçar, ainda que não seja preciso, esta surpresa.

o editor da “willamette week” de Portland descreveu a música dos Climber como sendo “baseada na tristeza mas capaz de transmitir uma energia que impede o ouvinte de pensar no lado negro da vida”. isto não quer dizer nada, mas pode querer dizer tudo se pensarmos na inversão semiconsciente por vezes induzida também pelo som: pensamos o que não ouvimos, um “sentir sem saber” em que absorvemos o contrário do lógico; ou o efeito “Radiohead”, que há quem veja parecenças.

os Climber são um quarteto de Portland, com um EP editado (2004) e algumas “demos” disponíveis online.
trabalham por esta altura no primeiro disco a solo (com produção de Lars Fox), o que pelas amostras antevê uma das propostas mais interessantes da “Sparklet Records” para 2006.
